SEPTEMBER'S FLY OF THE
MONTH
September is the best month of the season for fly fishing on the
AuSable. If there is one fly that is an absolute MUST during this time,
it is the Isonychia Parachute pattern. From the end of August until mid
October, this fly is the most productive on the river, right up there
along with the AuSable Wulff. The Isonychia Bicolor (the fly that it
represents) comes off during this entire period and fishing the
parachute pattern in the pockets, riffles and fast water sections of the
stream will always produce trout. Following is the pattern for this
fly.
